“Welcome to Romania!” Transfer to your hotel for check-in. Enjoy a sightseeing tour in Bucharest, Romania’s capital city known also as “Little Paris of the East”. En-route you will see the Unirii Square, the University Square, the Roman Square and the Victory Square. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Bucharest.
In the morning, visit the Palace of the Parliament, the largest building in Europe and the second largest in the world after the Pentagon building in the USA. You depart for Sibiu passing through the breathtaking Olt Valley and visit the orthodox monastery Cozia. At noon you arrive in Sibiu, one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Eastern Europe. In 2007 Sibiu was voted as European Capital of Culture. Enjoy a pleasant walking tour through the Old Town and visit the Small and the Grand Square, the Liar’s Bridge, the Huet Square and the Lutheran Church. In the evening discover the second largest Museum of Icons in Glass in the world and enjoy a delicious traditional dinner at the locals from the small and idyllic mountain village Sibiel. Overnight in Sibiu.
This morning, enjoy a scenic ride on the country roads of Transylvania and get to see the small Saxon villages with colorful houses and fortified churches. Stop in Medias for an interesting visit at the St. Margaret Church. Continue towards Biertan, where you will visit the largest church castle in Transylvania. Afterwards you arrive in Sighisoara, a medieval citadel listed by UNESCO as World Heritage site. During the guided tour you visit the town’s landmark, the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill and the birth house of count Dracula. Journey to Brasov. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Brasov.
Start the day with the city tour of Brasov, which is known as “The Heart of Transylvania”. This 800 year old town has preserved almost intact its Old Town and the medieval atmosphere. Visit the Black Church, the largest gothic construction of its kind between Istanbul and Vienna. Afterwards you visit the famous Dracula Castle from Bran. The castle was built by the German Saxons in the 14th century and represents today the main attraction in Romania. Return to Brasov. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Brasov.
Visit this morning the elegant Peles Castle, built at the end of the 19th century as summer residence for the Romanian Royal Family. This was the most modern castle of its time with elevators, central heating and electricity. Inside the castle you will find lots of original paintings of the Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. Head South towards sunny Dobrogea and overnight in Tulcea, the “Gate of the Danube Delta”. Dinner at the hotel.
Embark this morning on the excursion ship which will take you in the heart of Europe’s best preserved natural habitat. The Danube Delta is included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list since 1990, being one of the wildest areas of Europe. It is the sanctuary for more than 300 species of birds, being the major migration hub for thousands of birds heading from and to Mongolia, Siberia, India, Africa and China. Learn more about the formation of the Danube Delta and about the many bird and fish species living here. Enjoy the nature and observe the cormorants, the egrets, swans or pelicans around your ship. The lunch will be served onboard the ship. In the afternoon return to your hotel in Tulcea and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner at the hotel.
Enjoy a scenic ride to Constanta, the largest harbor of the Black Sea and one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe. The guided tour starts at the ancient Ovidiu Square, where you visit the Archeological Museum with its outstanding collections of ancient statues and jewels and the Roman Mosaic, the largest of its kind in Eastern Europe, afterwards you visit the Orthodox Cathedral St. Peter and Paul. Enjoy some free time at the beach in Mamaia, the finest resort of the Romanian Black Sea Coast and then head North to Bucharest, the Romanian capital city. Dinner with folk show and wine at one of the local restaurants. Overnight in Bucharest.
