“Highlights of Romania” is a complex 8-days tour comprising the regions Transylvania, Bucovina and Maramures. In just 8 days one will get to see the highlights of Romania such as the Dracula Castle, the Peles Castle, the painted monasteries in Bucovina, the wooden church and Merry Cemetery in Sapanta, as well as the outstanding medieval towns from Transylvania such as Sibiu, Sighisoara, and Brasov.

Welcome to Romania! Arrive to the centrally located hotel and check-in. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of ‘’The Little Paris of the East’’. Admire the bustling metropolis and capital of Romania since 1862, its spectacular, airy boulevards, and the glorious, mesmerizing Belle-Epoque buildings. Discover Bucharest’s highlights such as the second largest building in the world, The Palace of the Parliament, the Unification Square, the Patriarchal Church, the University Square, the Roman Square, the Victory Square, the Arch of Triumph and the Revolution Square. Enjoy a traditional welcome dinner at a local restaurant from the Old Town of Bucharest.
After breakfast, you can opt to enjoy a tour of The People’s House interior and discover its beautifully preserved architecture, the massive chandeliers, mirrors, and impressive furniture. Scenic drive to Sinaia, and visit of one of the most stunning castles from Europe, the Peles Castle, built in an outstanding German Renaissance design, also known for being the summer residence of the Romanian Royal family. Travel to Bran and visit of the Bran Castle, built in the 14th century by the Saxons, and worldwide known for the legend about Dracula. Besides the correlation with Dracula, The Bran Castle was one of the residences of the Romanian Royal family. Carry on to Brasov, and check-in at the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.
An enchanting start of the day with a tour of the medieval town founded by the German Saxons in the 12th century, Brasov. Visit the beautifully preserved symbol of Brasov, The Black Church, modelled after the famous Saint Sebaldus Church from Nurnberg, and built in almost 100 years due to its complex Gothic design. Continue with visiting The Old Town, The Black Tower, The White Tower, Ecaterina’s Gate and Rope’s Street. Journey towards Gura Humorului, and check-in at the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.
Carry on to Voronet and discover the monastery built in only 3 months and three days in the year 1488, The Voronet Monastery (Unesco World Heritage site), also worldwide known as “The Sistine Chapel of the East”, or ‘’Blue Voronet’’ due to its predominantly blue frescoes. Drive to Moldovita and visit one of the oldest monasteries from Romania, The Moldovita Monastery, built in the 16th century, and included as an Unesco World Heritage Site. Travel to Bogdan Voda, and visit one of the outstanding wooden churches specific to the Maramures region, declared a Romanian Historical Monument. Continue towards Sighetul Marmatiei, and check-in at the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.
Drive to Sapanta and visit the famous Merry Cemetery, admire the unique design of the crosses, and enjoy the merry stories translated by your guide. Journey towards one of the biggest cities from Romania, Cluj Napoca and check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the city’s main attractions, The Central Park, Union Square, The Museum Square, The Banffy Palace, Tailor’s Bastion, and The Fortress Hill. Dinner at the hotel.
Scenic ride to Sighisoara, and visit of the the fairy tale like Old Town with cobblestones, 9 towers, artillery bastions and pretty houses. and its preserved medieval atmosphere, its 14th century wall, towers and bastions. Enjoy a pleasant walking tour inside the citadel, which is on UNESCO’s World Heritage list, and visit the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill and the birth house of Count Dracula. Travel to Sibiu and check-in at the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast, enjoy a walking tour of the beautifully preserved medieval city, visit the Bridge of Lies, the second iron bridge from Europe, the Citadel Park, the Council Tower, the Large Square, the Huet Square, and the Small Square. Enjoy a walk among the Old Town of Sibiu, one of the famous old towns from Romania, due to the presence of historical monuments with specific architectures that keep the medieval atmosphere alive, from which the majority are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Admire The Evangelic Church, located in the historical city center of Sibiu, its tower of almost 74m of height, is the tallest tower from Transylvania, has an outstanding architecture, being one of the most impressive buildings from Sibiu. Discover the outstanding architecture of the famous Brukenthal Museum of the largest and wealthiest walled citadel from Transylvania, chosen as Europe’s Cultural Capital of 2007, together with Luxembourg. Travel 20km from Sibiu, to the village Sibiel, at The ”Pr. Zosim Oancea” Museum. Visit the museum, named after its founder, and its exhibition of almost 600 creations, the biggest museum of painted icons on glass from Transylvania. Experience a unique adventure with a horse-drawn chariot ride Enjoy a traditional dinner including homemade wine and plum brandy at a local house of a villager.Return to Sibiu.
